Do I need to use a power converter for my Apple laptop while in Europe?

Do I need to use a power converter for my Apple laptop while in Europe?
I have a mac powerbook G4, and everybody told me that I don't need a power converter, when I travel to Europe...So I didn't use one, and basically my battery died. I'm gonna get a new battery, and I'm just wondering do I need to use a converter now or no? I'm still in Europe. Will using a converter damage my computer? This is what my brother told me.... Thanks

Answer 1 :
If you are in the US you will need a power converter. The plugs in Europe vary by location and you cannot plug a standard US or Asian device in to a European out it. Also the current used varies contry by country and if the power is not properly converted over your equipment can brake.

Should I bring my laptop with me to Europe?

Should I bring my laptop with me to Europe?
I wasn't planing on it. I figured it would just be easier, and internet cafes are easy to find and aren't expensive. However, with all the volcano activity, and the threat of the second volcano blowing, I feel having my laptop with me would be an asset if for some reason I get stuck coming back.

Do i need some kind of plan for my laptop to use wifi in europe?

do i need some kind of plan for my laptop to use wifi in europe?
I'm going to Ireland, UK and France next month...and someone was mentioning data plans for your LAPTOP...do i really need that? In my books it said that there are plenty of wifi spots in cafes and hostels and stuff like that in europe...can't i just connect to those providers? Or do i need some kind of international internet plan? Couldn't reach anyone who could answer me on this.

Answer 1 :
First off, Wireless cards (WIFI) on laptops cannot receive internet through cell phone data plans. You are talking about 2 different things. WIFI is from a Wireless router (usually) that your laptop can use when you connect to the router. (think wifi spots in cafes, starbucks, etc) Data plans are used when you plug a data receiver into your USB port that reads Cell phone signals. In this way you would buy it from a cellphone provider and use their data services like your cell phone would. These are 2 seperate things, which make your question... null.
Answer 2 :
There are a lot of free wi fi spots all over where you are traveling. If you need a constant connection go to any phone store once you get to wherever you are traveling to and you can buy a prepaid data usb device. I suggest if you absolutely do not need a laptop, go with an iPad or iPod touch, you can do all your emailing, skyping, gaming in a lot more portable package. Less of a problem if the thing gets damaged or stolen.
