Can I use any american appliances/electronics in Europe with just a converter?

Can I use any american appliances/electronics in Europe with just a converter?
I am traveling to Europe and the Czech Republic. Will I be able to plug any american appliance/electronic in through a simple converter and use it? Or is there something else I would need to avoid "blowing up" my american appliances/electronics? In general, I would be plugging in hair appliances or a laptop or cell phone charger. If you have any recommendations on what converter etc. to purchase, I would appreciate the suggestions. Thanks!

Most modern electronics like laptops, cell phone chargers, ipod chargers, etc. will work with both US and European voltages. Look at the power supply label. It will say something like 100 - 240 Vac 50/60 Hz. In this case, all you need is a plug adapter here. You do not need a voltage converter for these devices. Some products, like Sony camera chargers, specifically tell you not to use a voltage converter. For some of the hair appliances, you may need a voltage converter. You'll need to check the product information to tell whether what you have is dual voltage or not. I've been using US electronics here in Europe for the past ten years and have never needed a voltage converter - laptops, cell phone charger, and camera chargers, but I have no hair appliances here.
